Special Recreation Groups

A Yukon Special Recreation Group is the single governing authority for their recreation activity in Yukon, has a significant Yukon membership, and has a least one viable sister organization in another province or territory.

There are currently seven organizations that are considered eligible YSRGs:

Elder Active Recreation Association seeks to enhance the lives of older Yukoners through education, programs and events that develop and maintain health and wellness in body, mind and spirit. Elder Active coordinates and manages Team Yukon at the Canada 55+ Games.

Girl Guides Canada – Yukon Council

Recreation and Parks Association of Yukon (RPAY) works to promote and support healthy, active living in Yukon.

Skookum Jim Friendship Centre (SJFC) is commited to a vision of bettering the spiritual, emotional, mental and physical wellbeing of First Nations people.

Special Olympics Yukon provides sport opportunities to Yukoners with intellectual disabilities.

Yukon Aboriginal Sport Circle (YASC) works to promote and develop sport opportunities for Yukon First Nations people and is committed to reducing barriers to participation.
