Summer Aquatics Program

The Sport & Recreation Branch, in partnership with the Recreation & Parks Association of Yukon (RPAY),  supports pool operations and programming in rural Yukon. Through our annual Spring Aquatics Workshop, we foster knowledge and skills around safe pool operations, lifesaving, and the instruction of Red Cross and Lifesaving Society learn-to-swim programs, as needed.

The following services are provided to communities and pool staff:

  • Annual spring aquatics workshop, which provides hands-on practical sessions and re-certification opportunities, presentations by local agencies, a risk management session, and which also includes Yukon Pool School, a new program which integrates the Pool Operators material and training

  • Advertisement of summer aquatics positions available in Yukon for the upcoming season. Resmes will be collected and distributed to communities as requested

  • Organize additional aquatics training as required, such as Red Cross and Lifesaving Society learn-to-swim programs

  • Aquatics safety and troubleshooting expertise, including pool operations, maintenance, pool chemicals, safety, programming, pool start-up and shut down procedures
