The Community Development Branch:
provides administrative and financial support to all Branch program areas; offers bilingual customer service to the public, Yukon Government employees and other client groups who require government services and information; encourages, strengthens, enables and supports local government in the Yukon; promotes health and safety through community infrastructure, including priority water and sewage projects, and related projects for unincorporated communities throughout the Yukon; provides advice and assistance to municipalities and Yukon First Nations upon request; undertakes orderly development of residential, commercial, industrial, and recreational lands to meet the needs of the Yukon; provides all Yukon taxing authorities with current, accurate, and equitable property assessments, and establishes general property tax rates for all areas outside municipalities; offers library services to Yukon people through a central library in Whitehorse and 14 community branches located throughout Yukon; encourages and supports active living and healthy lifestyles in communities through the promotion and development of recreation and sport; and establishes and nurtures partnerships with Yukon people, community organizations and the volunteer sector.
