Invitation to Comment on Amendments to the Dental Profession Act and Regulations

We are inviting dental professionals, stakeholders and the public to review and provide input on proposed changes to the Dental Profession Act and regulations. These changes are intended to allow dental hygienists to provide specific services they are trained to do. While dental hygienists are professionally trained and accredited, an update to the act is required to legally allow them to provide these services. The list of services dental hygienists can provide in Yukon requires clarification and is currently much more restrictive than in other parts of Canada.

These proposed amendments would also permit dental hygienists to provide these services in dental clinics and in schools as part of the Yukon Children’s Dental Program.

Highlights of proposed amendments, the public can provide feedback on:

  • Clarification Scope of Practice
  • Pre-examination Services
  • License and Registration

Please provide your comments and suggestions to the Community Services’ Professional Licensing and Regulatory Affairs Branch to plra@gov.yk.ca

The Government of Yukon is seeking input on potential changes to the Lotteries and Games of Chance Regulations.

Many Yukon charitable organizations are interested in running progressive raffles as fundraisers; however, some of these raffles don’t fit well with the current regulations.

Charitable organizations and the public are invited to participate in a survey that will be open until June 16, 2017 to share their insights and thoughts about how potential changes can be integrated into the existing charitable gaming regulations.

To obtain a paper copy of the survey, contact the Professional Licensing & Regulatory Affairs branch at plra@gov.yk.ca, or call 667-5111, or 1-800-661-0408 ext. 5111.
