Personal Property Registry

Legislative Changes

The Personal Property Security Registry (Electronic) Amendments Act was proclaimed on May 4 with the passage of its accompanying regulations. This Act will enable Yukon to adopt a modern, electronic registry. To implement the registry, Yukon will join six other Canadian jurisdictions (NB, NS, PEI, NL, NU and NWT) in using the Atlantic Canada On-Line (ACOL) Personal Property Registry System operated by Unisys Canada.

Yukon’s new online personal property registry will be launched on June 27, 2016 to support Yukon’s Personal Property Security Act (PPSA). It will replace both the current paper-based system and the ppsr.gov.yk.ca search service.

Secured parties or their agents will soon be able to enter their Yukon-based security interests (“liens”) online through the secure ACOL Personal Property Registry System. Our current online search functionality on the ppsr.gov.yk.ca web site will also migrate to www.acol.ca/en/service/pprs.

All registrations in Yukon’s current Personal Property Security Registry (including those discharged or expired) will be migrated to the ACOL Personal Property Registry System before the launch date. It will not be necessary to re-register any financial interest.

Please note - paper registration filings will no longer be accepted at Corporate Affairs after 3:00 p.m. on June 23, 2016.
