Instructions
Individuals wishing to become SAR VOLUNTEERS should obtain the "SAR Volunteer Enrollment Information Form" from their local SAR Team. This form is to be completed in full and returned to their local SAR President.
All new SAR applicants must complete RCMP Form 3584 "CONSENT FOR DISCLOSURE OF CRIMINAL RECORD INFORMATION" and present this signed form to the local RCMP Detachment. The RCMP will conduct a criminal records check and will only disclose the results to the SAR applicant.
Once the RCMP has conducted and verified the applicant's criminal record, or lack thereof, the RCMP will, as part of the overall SAR suitability process, advance a recommendation to the local SAR President. The RCMP's recommendations will be based on the following list of exemptive behavior: violence/assault, weapons offences, theft, sexual offences, repetitive drug and alcohol-related behaviours, public mischief/deceits, mental heath and/or other serious matters.
Once the SAR suitability process is completed the local SAR Executive will either approve/not approve the application and will notify the applicant. Approved application will be forwarded to the Yukon Emergency Measures Branch for immediate SAR registration and issuance of a SAR Volunteer card.
