Cooler Conditions Keep Fire Activity Low
With scattered thundershowers and rain covering many parts of Yukon, there have been no new fires reported since July 1. Throughout the Territory, fire danger ratings are LOW. Activity on most fires has been low this week.

There is no immediate threat to the Little Gold Customs Station or the Top of the World Highway. Crews are continuing to monitor this fire with a fixed-wing patrol, and it has been showing little activity the past few days. |

Fire crews are continuing to monitor this fire with a fixed-wing patrol. There is a mining camp one km. from the fire, but it is not being threatened at this time. |
Wildland Fire Management (WFM) would like to remind the public to never leave a campfire unattended, and to make sure that it is fully extinguished before leaving the area.
Given the current fire danger ratings, it is a good opportunity for those with burning permits to burn brush or debris. However, permit guidelines must always be followed, and when fire danger ratings rise to HIGH or EXTREME it is important to call your local district office to make sure burning is permitted.
There have been 63 fires this season burning approximately 111,000 hectares. On this date in 2004, there were 173 forest fires that had burnt 566,082 hectares of forest.
