Wildfire Bulletin #37

July 08, 2004 - 4:00 PM

Mendenhall Fire Caused By Lightning

The recent fire by Mendenhall was determined to have been caused by lightning. It has been determined that it was a holdover fire from June 28 when there were a number of lightning strikes in that area.

The forecasted weather forecast is calling for warmer throughout the territory for the rest of the week.

An upper ridge, which is the cause of the warm weather, is expected to arrive next Tuesday or Wednesday and is predicted for approximately five days. Winds should be light and lightning is not probable until the ridge moves past the Yukon into the Northwest Territories. Temperatures are forecasted in the high 20's. It will be sunny all over the Yukon.
