New Fire Near Customs

A lightning-caused fire was reported this morning five miles from customs at the Yukon/Alaska border and approximately two to three kilometers from the Alaska Highway. It is in the Beaver Creek district. A Wildland Fire Management (WFM) crew was dispatched this morning at 8:30 a.m. to action the fire.

In other news, Saskatchewan fire fighters are being demobilized from the Yukon this morning and a British Columbia Safety Officer will be returning to B.C shortly. WFM is also making arrangements for Ontario crews to leave tomorrow.

Kilometre 1946 on Alaska Highway BC#18 N/A Fire is being actioned.

Advisories

Effective immediately, campfires for cooking and warming are permitted throughout Yukon. Permits are required for any other fires, such as for burning brush and debris. Permits will be issued only if conditions allow. For more information please contact Yukon Wildland Fire Management at 867-456-3845.

There have been 241 fires in the Yukon burning close to 1,400, 000 hectares of forest.
