Burning Permits Suspended in Dawson City, Old Crow and Mayo

As per the conditions of burning permits in the Yukon, permit holders are advised that burning permits are suspended immediately throughout the Klondike and Northern Tutchone Fire Management Zones. This is due to the current moderate fire danger in the areas as well as the unusually dry conditions and the lack of precipitation in the forecast.

As standard with the issuance of burning permits in the Yukon, burning is only permitted during periods of low fire danger. Currently the conditions in Mayo, Dawson City and Old Crow are moderate.

This suspension of burning permits will be in effect until the fire danger rating drops to low. No new burning permits will be issued under the current conditions.

In addition to strictly adhering to local restrictions on burning, please be sure that cooking and warming fires are small, in approved devices, and never ignited during windy conditions. Also, never leave your fire unattended.

For further information please contact your local district for information on obtaining a burning permit.

Wildland Fire Management thanks the public for their cooperation.
