Current Fire Danger Ratings Wildfire Bulletin #8 May 29, 2007 - 10:25 AM Crews Making Good Progress on Mendenhall Landing Fire Crews are making good progress on the Mendenhall Landing fire which was reported Sunday night. Eight firefighters worked on the fire until 8 PM Monday night, and then camped near the site. Today there are 17 firefighters at the fire, working on mop-up and hot-spotting. Later today a helicopter will do an infrared scan over the fire. The cooler weather has helped the firefighters, as the fire has been inactive with little smoke. The fire will be assessed later today and it is expected that some resources will be released. The Kusawa Lake Road remains open, however the public is asked to be cautious of crews working near the road.
