Current Fire Danger Ratings Wildfire Bulletin #35 August 11, 2006 - 3:30 PM Crews Released from Beaver Creek Fire All crews who were working on the Felsenmer Ridge fire near Beaver Creek have been demobilized. The community is currently receiving precipitation which has lowered the fire danger. The current size of the fire is about 8801 hectares. The fire will be monitored as the situation requires. Although temperatures will likely be cool this weekend and some precipitation is expected, campers and travelers still need to be extremely careful with campfires. “Just because the temperatures are cooler, people shouldn’t get complacent,” said Michael Templeton, Yukon duty officer. “Even in these conditions, fires can still be a risk.” The fire danger is currently low to moderate throughout the territory. There have been 75 fires this year, burning a total of 106,228 hectares. Wildland Fire Management would like to thank the public for their cooperation in reporting wildfires. -30- For Yukon Wildfire updates, call 1-800-826-4750 Current Fire Danger Ratings |
