January 6, 2012 - Notice: Type 1 Fitness Standards for Wildland Firefighters

WFM Employment In 2012 Yukon’s Wildland Fire Management along with all other Wildfire Agencies across the country are adopting the new Physical Fitness Standards for Type 1 - Wildland Fire Fighters (WFX-FIT). Wildland firefighters will be required to perform and maintain a new WFX – FIT .

Fighting wildfires is an exciting and demanding career, firefighters must demonstrate annually they are able to achieve the National Exchange Performance Standard. The WFX-FIT standard is considered a Bonifide test which emulates the physical effort required to perform tasks associated with wildland firefighting across Canada.
