Department of Community Services

FireSmart

FireSmart manages the threat of wildfire to our homes and communities. Fire is a naturally occurring and essential component of forests.  When we build our homes and communities near or within the forest, the threat of wildfire increases.

Protecting your Home or Property - As a homeowner you must assess your situation carefully and take all possible steps towards addressing the threat from wildfire.

For all homeowners, especially those living within the urban interface, we recommend conducting FireSmart Assessments on your properties.

The Partners in Protection, FireSmart Manual is a helpful resource for those of us that live within forested settings and communities.
