Burn permits

The 2017 fire season is here. Please do your part to burn responsibly.

Between April 1 and September 30, you need a valid permit to light an open fire.

Burning permits are required for:

  • Burning grass, debris or brush
  • Lighting an open fire for any purpose other than a campfire (more info on campfire safety)
  • Burning on all public and private lands

Contact your local issuing office to obtain a burn permit. Permits will be suspended if the fire danger rating is moderate, high or extreme.

These permits are for outside Whitehorse city limits. If you plan to burn within the city limits, contact the City of Whitehorse.
