Yukoners receive donation of carbon monoxide alarms from Hawkins-Gignac Foundation
February 7 - The Yukon Government has partnered with the City of Whitehorse, the Hawkins-Gignac Foundation and the Food Bank Society of Whitehorse to raise awareness with regard to carbon monoxide safety and the importance of having a detector in homes.
A news conference was held today as the Hawkins-Gignac Foundation donated 200 carbon monoxide detectors.
The Food Bank Society of Whitehorse will distribute these detectors to lower income families, senior citizens and others who may not be in a position to purchase a unit for their homes.
"Carbon monoxide and smoke detectors save lives; we hope every Yukoner will ensure their homes are equipped with both," Yukon Fire Marshal Dennis Berry said at the news conference. "We are grateful to the Hawkins-Gignac Foundation for their generous donation today."
Please visit the Fire Marshal's Public Education page for more information on how to protect your family from carbon monoxide.
