Land Development

The Land Development branch works to bring new residential, commercial, industrial and institutional lots to the Whitehorse market.

The City of Whitehorse is the authority for planning the location and conceptual nature of these developments. The Land Development branch develops the individual lots and streets, builds underground and surface infrastructure such water and sewage services, storm water conveyance structures, telecommunications, electrical services, street lights and finished streets and sidewalks.

Finished lots are then turned over to Energy, Mines and Resources for lottery and over-the-counter sales. 

Whistle Bend Subdivision

The Whistle Bend Subdivision is a great example of partnership and of the City of Whitehorse/Yukon government land development protocol at work. When complete, Whistle Bend is envisioned as a neighbourhood for 8,000 residents, complete with transit service, a town square featuring public parkland and retail shops, a school, plentiful green space and many kilometres of paved and unpaved trails.
