Our objective is to ensure safe and orderly development within Yukon's rural communities.

A community mapping program complements our planning services by maintaining a legal survey database and air & ortho photography library of most Yukon communities.

Community land planning advisory services are available to individuals, organizations, municipalities and First Nation governments.

Community Land Planning Topics:

  • Planning and Zoning
Community Land Planning is currently working on various planning and zoning projects in the Whitehorse periphery. Find out whether your area has planning or zoning regulations, or to see a list of current planning and zoning initiatives.
  • Subdivision
Subdivision refers to any time a new surveyed parcel of land is created. Subdivision approval is required when: a parcel is divided into more than one parcel; a parcel is created out of crown land; two or more parcels are consolidated into a single parcel; or an existing parcel is enlarged.
  • Rezoning
An application for rezoning is required in order to change the designated use of a parcel under the Area Development Act. Rezoning is only required if there are zoning regulations under the Area Development Act in place.
