Yukon Fire Marshal's Office

The Fire Marshal’s Office protects lives and property from structural fire and during emergencies, and operates enforcement, fire protection, suppression and safety-related programs. See PreparedYukon.ca for fire prevention.

The Fire Marshal’s Office is the authority for the entire Yukon fire service, including municipal and rural community fire departments. While municipal governments manage their own departments, oversight for all departments rests with us.

The Fire Marshal’s Office operates 16 volunteer fire departments, inclusive of 225 volunteer firefighters, in unincorporated communities. Visit Volunteerism and Employment for information on becoming a volunteer firefighter.

The Fire Marshal’s Office enforces the Fire Prevention Act and regulations. It also administers the National Fire Code and Gasoline Handling Act.
