How to prepare in case of an emergency

Potential hazards in Yukon

Protect your life and property from:

Civic Addressing

Ensure your property number is visible

  • Your address should be easily visible from the road to help emergency services find you day or night.
  • Place number on a tree or post around eye level within 3 metres of the right-of-way of the road.
  • Post your civic address at the driveway entrance and on your home. Use reflective material or illumination so that it can be seen in the dark.
  • Do not attach to street or highway signs.

Size of property numbers

  • Numbers should be 22.5 centimetres tall if intersecting with a highway.
  • Numbers should be 16 centimetres tall if intersecting with a side road.

If you do not have a civic address

  • Post your lot number, family name or other identifier that lets emergency responders know they have arrived.
